Did you know that a badly worn refrigeration gasket could be the reason why your energy bills are so high? Refrigeration gaskets line the doors of your restaurant equipment to keep the cold air in and the outside (warmer) air out. That tight seal helps keep the interior cool, which means your equipment doesn't have to work as hard to maintain that low internal temperature. At Tundra Restaurant Supply, we sell a variety of Beverage-Air® gaskets to fit a variety of refrigerators and freezers.
When to Replace Your Beverage-Air® Gasket
Refrigeration gaskets will naturally wear over time. Look for signs of breakage on your gaskets like cracks, or if the gasket is separating from the equipment. Also if your Beverage-Air® gasket feels hard to the touch or is always compressed, that is also a sign that it needs replacing. You can extend the life of your gaskets by regularly cleaning them; wipe down gaskets, taking care to wipe away crumbs, spills and other debris from in between the folds. Not only will keeping your gaskets clean prolong its life, but it will also prevent grime and other bacteria from getting in contact with your food inside the unit.
