About Cambro
Like we said, everyone knows Cambro for its CamSquare® Food storage containers and Insulated Transporters (aka “Hotboxes”). But did you know it all started with a hospital tray? In 1951, Campbell brothers William and Argyle were asked to create a durable hospital tray for the American Hospital Supply Corporation. William was the manufacturing innovator, and Argyle was the pioneer salesman. William decided to play with using fiberglass, and the ever popular Camtray® was born. The two brothers founded Cambro Manufacturing shortly after (Campbell + Brothers = Cambro. Get it?). Since then Cambro has greatly expanded their product line and continues to deliver innovative and superior foodservice supplies.
Cambro started as a family-run business and remains that today. William Cambro’s son, also named Argyle, is the current CEO and owner of Cambro Manufacturing and is certainly responsible for the immense growth of the company through product development and international expansion. He’s also been very proactive in facing issues like food safety and environmental awareness. Recognizing that Cambro product design can have a huge impact on food safety, Argyle created the StoreSafe line of food storage bins, shelving, and food rotation dissolvable labels in order to ensure the highest level of food safety practices when using these products.
