I plan to mount a table large enough to be used for fabric cutting (3 ft wide X 4 ft long). I plan to use plywood with a laminate top. Will 2 brackets support this board or will I need more?

I would recommend using 4 brackets. One under each corner to ensure that it will be as strong as possible.

                  • Q:

I want to use 2 of these to support fold-down seats in my tiny house. The seats will be approximately 20x20, so when in use they will extend about 20" from the wall, and about 13" past the end of the bracket. Will these support a 190 pound person with that much overhang?

                      A:

These have a weight capacity of 250 lbs per set of two. That capacity is for the 7 inches they cover. I would not recommend using these on a 20 inch seat as the majority of the seat would not be covered.

the bracket is made out of chrome plated cast aluminum

                    • A:

Well, the bottom part that's chrome plated won't rust unless you scratch the chrome off. The top part is just carbon steel, and that will rust regardless.

                  • Q:

Lastly, can one support be used for a small 12"x24" drop leaf or does any size leaf require two supports?

I am planning on 3 drop leafs. 2 of them will be 12" wide by 24" long and one will be 12" wide by 48" long. Do I need 6 supports or will 4 do the job?

                    • A:

The number of brackets will depend on how much weight you plan to put on top of each drop leaf. This supports 250 lbs. (113kg) dead weight using a 10" (254mm) shelf with pair of brackets mounted 24" (610mm) apart.

Using this bracket on a table does the bracket require any overhang of the table top or does it work with a top that is flush to the side of the table

                    1 answer

                    • A:

If I understand you correctly, this bracket does not require any overhang. However, you must use at least two brackets for mounting a table. A set of 2 brackets have a weight capacity of 250 lbs. Brackets are sold individually.

Does the shelf have to be removed when the bracket is in the down position or can it hang down with the bracket?

                    • A:

You do not have to remove the shelf when folded down. Removal is for sanitary purposes in case you want to rinse the shelf off in a sink, dishwasher, etc.

                  • Q:

How do you lower the shelf? How much weight does the bracket hold? Is the price for one or two brackets?
Asked on 6/30/2011 by Joe from Oklahoma

                    1 answer

                    • A:

To lower the shelf, simply pull out and fold down. To raise shelf, lift and push in to lock in place.

The shelf bracket supports 250 lbs (113kg) dead weight using a 10" (254mm) shelf with pair of brackets mounted 24" (610mm) apart.

The price on the product page is for one folding shelf bracket.
