Comments about Proctor Silex 60 cup Coffee Urn:

This urn meets our needs. It is a bit awkward to clean but other than that it is a solid product all the way around.

      Service and delivery comments:

When making our purchase we paid extra for 3-day shipping and we didn't receive our product with three business days. We received our product on the 4th business and received a discounted price on shippin due to the delay.

      • Q:

Does the cord disconnect from the pot or is it permanently attached?
Asked on 11/1/2014 by Mary from Minnesota

        1 answer

        • A:

The electrical cord is permanently attached. This is due to the heater within the urn to keep the beverage warm.

      • Q:

After brewing, will this product just keep the coffe hot, or will it continue to cook the coffee, thus causing a burned taste?
Asked on 5/1/2012 by swom from South Carolina

        1 answer

        • A:

When the brewing cycle is complete, percolation stops and the READY light illuminates green to indicate the coffee is ready to serve. The coffee urn automatically switches to the Keep Warm cycle and will maintain fresh, hot coffee until it is unplugged.

      • Q:

can this be used just to keep coffee warm if brewed from a separate drip brewer, we want a quick visual on coffee level during the day

Unfortunately this Hamilton Beach Coffee Urn runs through the brew cycle before clicking over to warm. There is not an option to only use the warm function.

If you were to put already-brewed coffee into this urn for the purpose of warming, and then turn the machine on, your coffee would most likely percolate through the brew process again before settling into the warm phase.
