This urn meets our needs. It is a bit awkward to clean but other than that it is a solid product all the way around.

Does the cord disconnect from the pot or is it permanently attached?

Mary

The electrical cord is permanently attached. This is due to the heater within the urn to keep the beverage warm.

Brian

After brewing, will this product just keep the coffe hot, or will it continue to cook the coffee, thus causing a burned taste?

swom

When the brewing cycle is complete, percolation stops and the READY light illuminates green to indicate the coffee is ready to serve. The coffee urn automatically switches to the Keep Warm cycle and will maintain fresh, hot coffee until it is unplugged.

Molly

can this be used just to keep coffee warm if brewed from a separate drip brewer, we want a quick visual on coffee level during the day

Scott

Unfortunately this Hamilton Beach Coffee Urn runs through the brew cycle before clicking over to warm. There is not an option to only use the warm function. If you were to put already-brewed coffee into this urn for the purpose of warming, and then turn the machine on, your coffee would most likely percolate through the brew process again before settling into the warm phase.
