It depends on what you are going to cook in the oven and what the local fire codes are. I would suggest speaking to the local Fire department or building code inspectors to get clarification, but here are the general guidelines. Type I hood - a kitchen hood for collecting and removing grease and smoke. Type II hood - a general kitchen hood for collecting and removing steam, vapor, fumes, heat or odors.
