Comments about Cadco Hi-Power Single Hot Plate - 120V/1,500W:

This is one of the best hot plates out there using a traditional coil burner that is 8 inch in diameter. The burner gets very hot... impressive considering its only a 110v model. They also sized the power right, at 12.5 Amps you have a little margin to run this off of a 15A circuit so you're unlikely to trip a breaker. I bought this mainly as a backup I can run off a generator in the event I'm in the middle of a canning project and the power goes out. I'm sure it will take longer to get a huge pot to boiling compared to a standard 220v stove but that is to be expected. Reviews elsewhere suggest that it has been used for canning by others. It seems well built and is made in USA.

Comments about Cadco Hi-Power Single Hot Plate - 120V/1,500W:

I BOUGHT TWO AND BOTH UNITS DID WHAT THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO DO ~ EVEN BETTER THAN EXPECTED ! THEY WERE USED FOR A HEAT SOURCE INSIDE A SMALL CUSTOM BUILT SMOKEHOUSE THAT I HAD BUILT. OTHER BRANDS WERE UNABLE TO ATTAIN ENOUGH HEAT NOR WERE THEY MADE WITH A STAINLESS STEEL FRAME OR HAVE THE WORKABLE HEAT ADJUSTMENT (THERMOSTAT) FEATURE WHICH OTHER LESSER BRAND UNITS DO NOT HAVE OR DO HAVE AND NOT WORK ACCURATELY. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT TO ANYONE THAT WANTS A WELL MADE PRODUCT THAT PERFORMS AS THE MANUFACTURER CLAIMS !

would this be hot enough to use for canning?

            • A:

Not really. This is a 120V unit, and though it will eventually get hot enough, it will take a very long time. You'd be much better off with a 220V unit like the one I'm referring below. However, keep in mind that you'll need an outlet capable of supporting that voltage, which you almost definitely won't have in your home if you're planning on using this product in a residential setting.
