Comments about Boxer 20 Qt Commercial Mixer w/ Meat Grinder:

I bought this mixer for an artisan chocolate shop to mix fondants, truffles, and to whip cream. As soon as the warranty expired (one year), the machine started to shut off after one minute of operation. Now it only runs for about ten seconds before it shuts off. I can't even find out who makes this mixer or find any one who fixes it. I would avoid this mixer at all costs.

Comments about Boxer 20 Qt Commercial Mixer w/ Meat Grinder:

I bought this mixer grinder for a sausage making business. The knife part of the grinder shattered when I turned it on for the first time, before I could grind any meat. Tundra sent me a replacement knife for it which didn't fit the auger, then Vollrath was supposed to send an entire replacement grinder which still hasn't arrived. 2 months into my business I have not been able to use it at all for the purpose I bought it for and to make matters worse, Tundra informed me I probably cannot return machine to manufacturer. Additionally, there are only 3 gears and you cannot switch between gears while the machine is running. There is also a safety cover which makes it difficult if not impossible to add liquid while mixing which is crucial for making sausage as well as for mixing a wide variety of things. I have had a very unpleasant experience with this product so far.

          Service and delivery comments:

I pretty much lost $1000 on a machine that I bought over your website, which I cannot use and am under the impression that I cannot return either.

Would like to know where I can obtain the cutter blade for the meat grinder which sits at the top of the Boxer dough mixer model I have.

              Thanks for your question Charlotte.

Is this Vollrath MIX5120 20 Qt Commercial Mixer the model of mixer you have? If not, can you provide the model and serial number of your unit? With this information we can actually order the cutter blade you need.

can I mix tough dough without burning the motor? What kind of hook does it have? spiral or a c shape?

I do not recommend this mixer for heavy dough. It is for light duty use only. I have recommended another mixer below that will work great for tough dough.

The below mixer includes a removable stainless steel safety guard, 20 qt bowl, spiral dough hook, whip and beater.

what constitutes light duty when considering a mixer?

we are looking for a 20qt mixer to for cookie dough and other bakery type applications. what is the difference b/w light duty and heavy duty mixers, and which do you think I need?

            • A:

If you are using this mixer for batters & sauces, light duty will work fine. If you will be mixing bread and pizza dough (thicker mixtures) I recommend a heavy duty mixer. Please see below.
