  • Q:

Is this refrigerator NSF rated litererature is not specific

Current literature looks the same for units that are also NSF rated on websites
Asked on 1/27/2013 by Tom from Pennsylvania

    • A:

      Hi Tom. Great question.

I did a little research regarding UL and NSF certification. Beverage Air equipment (like the UCR34Y Undercounter Refrigerator) uses the UL listing as opposed to NSF. Initially I was told these two are interchangeable, but this is not necessarily the case. UL certification is not as intensive and essentially deals with electrical equipment only. NSF certification, on the other hand, is very intensive and deals with the entire manufacturing process from conception to production. It's possible to have everything from equipment to utensils be NSF certified.

This is a roundabout way of saying the UCR34Y Undercounter Refrigerator is NOT NSF certified. That said, some states require NSF certified equipment be used in your kitchen, so be sure to review your state's requirements.

  • Q:

what does the interior look like? Appropriate for wine bottles?

    • A:

The anodized aluminum interior is insulated with 2” thick CFC and HCFC-free foamed-in-place polyurethane insulation for maximum energy conservation and structural integrity. The UCR35Y has a capacity of 5.5 cu ft and is 29 3/8"L x 17"D x 19"H with 2 doors. There are 4 wire shelves provided. You can use this refrigerator for wine but it is not a wine cooler. Here are some back bar coolers that may work better for your needs:
