Do I Need a Heavy Duty Slicer?
Don’t be tempted to go cheaper with your slicer by ordering a slicer only capable of standard use if your business sees a lot of volume. Not only does long periods of use wear the parts on your slicer, but if you try to slice something too heavy it could burn out your motor. Think about your product as much as slicing time—do you intend to just slice deli meat? Or what about cheese or frozen products? Most standard duty slicers are not built to slice cheese, whereas medium duty slicers can slice cheese for maybe an hour or two a day. Heavy duty slicers on the other hand feature a large blade that enables you to slice larger product.
