About Robot Coupe
When Rollins Brown, Bill Gillmore, and Dan Bounds saw the first Robot Coupe in action, they were actually looking at the very first invention of the commercial food processor. In 1960, Pierre Verdon was a traveling catering sales rep and watched hundreds of chefs struggling through the daily tasks of chopping, slicing, dicing, and grinding product. This is how he discovered a serious need for what we now call food processors. In the 1960s, everyone had blenders. But the Robot Coupe was different in that the bowl was wider and shallower, eliminating the need to add liquid in order to move ingredients around. The design also allowed for a different, flatter blade, which could slice, dice, or chop, depending on the shapes of the holes in the slicing disc.
The Robot Coupe isn’t just the first of its kind – it’s arguably the best. Chefs around the globe ask for Robot Coupe in their kitchens because they know the machine will last. Most are built with a heavy induction motor with variations in horsepower. The design is also simple and intuitive to use, making it easier to take apart for operating and cleaning.
We also love Robot Coupe’s dedication to the environment. For most machines, the first thing to go is its slicing ability – but don’t think that means the machine is dead or that you need to buy a replacement motor. Usually all that needs to be done is sharpen the blade and the machine is as good as new. If you do end up needing replacement parts, Robot Coupe keeps parts from old designs around for at least 10 years, which significantly reduces the amount of machines being hauled to the dump (or recycling center – since all Robot Coupe products are at least 95% recyclable).
