Types of Rubbermaid Casters
One of the most common Rubbermaid parts you'll probably replace is the caster. Casters are a must on carts and dollies because they make transportation much easier.
Threaded stem caster
Ideal for heavy duty equipment and dollies, carts and mop buckets, threaded stem casters are easily measured by finding a nut to fit the threads—find the right nut and you'll have the size of your threaded stem.
Plate caster
Plate casters are common on carts, dollies and mop buckets. To size plate casters correctly, measure the overall length and width of the original caster plate first, then measure the length and width from the center of each bolt hole. These measurements will prove handy when it comes to buying new plate casters.
Expanding/Push-In caster
Nearly all casters for 1 inch tubing are typically used with carts, whereas larger casters (like 1 5/8 inch) are used for heavy duty equipment. To size correctly, you need to measure the tubing and piping by acquiring the outside and inside diameter measurements respectively. Pipe size is then determined by measuring the threaded end of the pipe.
