About Vollrath
The Jacob J. Vollrath Manufacturing Company was founded in 1884 in Sheboygan, WI. After running a successful cast steel manufacturing company, Jacob expanded his production to kitchen utensils. He sent his son Andrew to Germany (twice) to master the art of enameled cast iron, and Jacob began selling his product to the Sheboygan community from a horse-drawn cart. Shortly after, the company expanded and Jacob’s other son, Carl, originated and patented “speckled” enamel in 1889. In 1900, the name was shortened to The Vollrath Company, and the family decided to devote itself entirely to the field of stainless steel and aluminum cooking tools in order to concentrate on the highest possible quality and keep up with technological change.
In 100+ years, The Vollrath Company has greatly expanded, but never lost the values of the small, high quality manufacturing company that it was born from.
