Buying and using fresh food and ingredients is a no brainer. Unfortunately, labeling that food and knowing when it expires isn’t always second nature. Day labels serve an important purpose in the commercial kitchen. These little safety stickers are often multi-colored and easy-to-read, taking the guess work out of keeping your stock fresh or leftovers edible. Day labels act as a ticking timer as the days go by and food sits. The same person who loads a bin with fresh lettuce or slices up sandwich meat for the week isn’t always the same person who uses it during the day. That’s why proper labeling is so important.
