Comments about CHG 25 ft X 7/16 in Compression Gasket:

This gasket is exactly as advertised. It is made from PVC which is good and maybe bad. First the bad, it is not subtle like a urethane and so I am not sure how it will wear, time will tell. I am using this on a Kool Room Door. Now the good... since it is PVC , I can cut this gasket precisely and glue the mitered corners with standard PVC pipe cement so I can create a custom rectangular door gasket that is effectively one piece and fits my door like the proverbial glove. If this gasket wears well, and I can get a few years of use this will be an excellent choice and a super value for the price.

        How is the gasket attached?

          Push in refrigeration door gaskets

Removal – Remove the old gasket by grabbing a corner and pulling!

Installation – Push in gaskets may require vinyl cement (below). To install the new gasket brush some vinyl cement into the channel and press the gasket into the channel.

Note: Make sure the hinge side of the gasket does not roll under when you close the door. If it does, push it into position and you may have to tape the door closed to get the gasket to seat itself. You may also use a hair dryer to heat the gasket as this will help the gasket seat. (Make sure you don’t melt the gasket!)

          Screw in door gaskets

          Removal – Simply remove screws.

What is the pliability of the material for this gasket? Soft like an inner tube or firmer like a bicycle tire?

This material is stiffer than an inner tube but not as hard as a tire. It must be straightened by twisting to maintains its shape. It will become more subtle as it warms like any plastic.
